‘Trace Academia’ App Solving Youth Employment Agenda in Africa

Global multimedia platform Trace has launched Trace Academia, an edutainment app that provides free learning from experts from across the world.

It offers free courses and certificates that are dedicated to creating jobs and encouraging entrepreneurship.

These courses range across 15 industries and are available in English, French, and Portuguese.

To deliver on its mandate, the app has formed a coalition with global private, public, and non-profit partners among them the Mastercard Foundation, AFD, UNESCO, Grow with Google, the L’Oréal Foundation, Orange, Canal+, SACEM, Visa, Schneider Electric, Leroy Merlin, and Bureau Veritas.

Trace Academia, a free-to-use learning app set to reach 26 million young Africans, represents an important contribution to the youth employment agenda on the continent, says Olivier Laouchez, co-founder and executive of Trace.

“This free and easy-to-use app aims to train 26 million African youth by 2026 with the skills they need to find or create work and the opportunities to kick start their careers because we strongly believe that their current circumstances should never be a hindrance to their success,” said Trace co-founder and executive chairman Olivier Laouchez.

For the coming months, Trace Academia will offer courses in music, beauty, fashion, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, hospitality, creativity, journalism, film, tech, public speaking, agility, electricity, DIY, and wellbeing.

The interactive edutainment app, which is free and available on iOS and Android, seeks to innovate vocational training across Africa. All the courses and certificates can be downloaded straight to your device, streaming either via WiFi or mobile data.

“Innovative education is the only way we will be able to address Africa’s youth unemployment in a sustainable manner. That is why Trace Academia is calling on all African governments, nonprofits, tertiary education institutions, industry stakeholders, philanthropists, and individuals to help us have a lasting impact on the continent in whatever way possible. This will help 300-odd million African youth leapfrog their circumstances to embrace the future,” said Trace Academia MD Camille Agon.
