Kenyan comedienne, Elsa Majimbo’s short documentary will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival 2022 lineup.

The film aptly called Elsa is featured under the category called Compass which features short documentaries about navigating life. 

Directed and produced by Julia Jansch and written by Elsa, the short gives viewers a glimpse into Majimbo’s rise to fame and the harsh realities of unashamedly being herself.

Elsa will screen alongside other shorts in that category including The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone, Paint & Pitchfork, Santa Barbara and Walking Two Worlds. The available dates to screen Elsa with a pass are June 9th and June 16th.

The aim of the Tribeca Film Festival is to showcase a diverse selection of films, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming. Owing to the pandemic, the festival is offering passes for film lovers who would like to watch from home.

Festival Director and VP of Programming Cara Cusumano announced that 109 feature films have been selected to bring the event to life, and they have been made by 150 directors from 40 different countries. 

In addition, the Tribeca Film Festival will exhibit 43 short films that hail from 25 countries.

The festival will run from June 8th to 19th.
