Nairobi’s Vijana Amani Pamoja is going to benefit from Standard Chartered Kenya’s Goal programme after launching its computer lab.

Vijana Amani Pamoja is a community scheme that leverages the power and the popularity of the game of football as a metaphor for social and economic empowerment.

Goal is Standard Chartered’s leading education programme that provides financial literacy, life skills, and employability training to low-income adolescent girls across its footprint.

Futuremakers’ Goal programme uses sport, play and life-skills education to transform the lives of adolescent girls across our markets.

The Computer Lab donation will go towards supporting the Mauzo Mtandaoni Project by the Goal Girls. The Mauzo Mtandaoni project aims to harness digital marketplaces to support young female entrepreneurs.

“At Standard Chartered, we believe that for a society to develop, the girl child and women will need to be empowered. That is why we came up with the Goal Girls program.” Mr. Kariuki Ngari,  CEO of Stanchart said during the launch of the laboratory.

“Women have a vital role to play in the 4th industrial revolution that is powered by technology. By harnessing technology, women can actively play a part in advancing their communities.”

The Goal program is designed for girls ages 12-18 who are living in underserved communities.

“Across the markets, we operate in, between 2006 & 2021, the programme reached more than 735,000 girls and young women. Our target is to reach one million girls between 2006 and 2023.”

“The possibilities are endless for girls and women today. With the right mentality and application, women can rise against biases to achieve their dreams,” Board Chair Kellen Kariuki says.
