Microsoft Corp. on Thursday opened its African Development Center (ADC) facility in Nairobi after Lagos, Nigeria.
ADC is Microsoft’s initiative in Africa for an engineering hub to provide local solutions with global scalability as well as provide employment opportunities and further enhance technological innovations on the continent.
“The launch today positions Kenya as a tech hub in Africa, more so as technology takes the center stage in the global economy,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said President Uhuru Kenyatta said he presided over the official launch of the Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC).
“ADC is a global recognition of the talent and quality workforce we can produce in Africa.”

Joy Chik the Corporate Vice President of Engineering, Enterprise Mobility, and Security said since its launch in 2019, they have already surpassed the 500 engineers we pledged to employ by 2023.
“At Microsoft, we have always hired the smartest engineers we can find. That’s why we came to Kenya! The main aim for the Africa Development Centers is to find talent that can build innovative tech not just for the continent, but for the entire world,” she said.
Jack Ngare, Managing Director, Microsoft ADC said they currently have 450 home-grown developers and engineers working full-time at the Nairobi Microsoft ADC, housed in the iconic Dunhill Towers.
