In order to create a more inclusive work environment and promote gender diversity, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has extended its paid maternity and paternity leaves for its workers.

According to TSC chief executive Nancy Macharia, the revised policy benefits to provide adequate support to employees, maternity benefits have been extended to 4 months of paid leave, while paternity leave will be 3 weeks of paid leave.

Men are currently given 14 paternity leave days.

This is in line with the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement made between it and the Kenya National Union of Teachers. 

In addition, any parent who adopts a child will be given a 45-day leave under the agreement.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of Kenya is an Independent Commission established under the Constitution of Kenya to manage human resources within the education sector.
