Deloitte East Africa has picked Anne Muraya as its next chief executive officer, placing her as the first female CEO for Deloitte East Africa.

Her appointment takes effect June 1, 2022.

Anne will succeed Joe Eshun, who has been appointed as the Deloitte Africa Managing Director for Business. He will be relocated to the Johannesburg office. 

Anne will oversee the audit firm’s offices in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and other East African locations the firm serves including but not limited to Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Somalia.

It is also important to me that we work with our people and our clients to impact the communities we live in by being part of the solution in matters of climate change and social and economic inequality,” Anne Muraya.

Prior to her incoming, she was the first female East Africa Audit Leader and Managing Director Responsible Business and Public Policy for Africa.

“She takes on this role at a historic time for the Deloitte Africa firm, joining Deloitte Africa CEO- elect, Ruwadyda Redfearn, and Deloitte Africa Board Chair, Delia Ndlovu as senior female executives leading the Deloitte Africa business,” the audit firm said in an emailed statement.

“These appointments are not only a continuation of our transformation journey but a reflection of the firm’s commitment to living our shared values,” said the outgoing Deloitte Africa CEO Lwazi Bam.

Anne is a certified public accountant with vast experience spanning over 19 years in Audit & Assurance, managing several listed/private companies cutting across multi-industries and Eastern Africa.

She is a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and also a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Rwanda (IcPAR).  

Anne is a member of Deloitte Africa Audit Executive Committee (Exco) which is responsible for setting the strategic direction and focus areas of the Africa Audit & Assurance business and overseeing the implementation of this strategy and DEA Management Committee Meeting.
