  • Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant square off in an historic clash this weekend
  • The pair are fighting to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion
  • Canelo holds the WBC, WBA and WBO titles while Plant is the holder of IBF strap

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez aiming to claiming historic win over Caleb Plant on Saturday night.

Canelo, boxing’s undoubted No1 pound-for-pound star, currently holds the WBC, WBO and WBA super-middleweight belts, with Plant’s IBF strap the sole item missing in his collection.

The Mexican all-time great embarked on his journey at 168lbs towards the backend of 2020, defeating Britain’s Callum Smith to claim the WBA and WBC titles.

Canelo has since dismantled Billy Joe Saunders to claim the WBO strap, with the undefeated Plant now standing in his way from eternal glory.

The pair will take to the ring under the famous MGM lights in Las Vegas, with genuine animosity between the pair following their explosive press conference in September, where Plant ended up with a cut following a coming together.

Plant, unbeaten in 21 professional fights, will be looking to add a blemish on the Mexican’s record and inflict him with his only second career defeat – the other coming to unbeaten pugilist Floyd Mayweather in September 2013.
