- Finishes ahead of Max Verstappen who started in last place in the race
Lewis Hamilton wins the Russian Grand Prix to retake lead of this season’s championship battle.
The Brit, who started fourth, battled in a spectacular race that saw him reach an impressive fete of a hundred wins in Formula One – the first driver in history.
Max Verstappen came in second – having started from last place, while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz settled for third.
It was heartbreak for Mclaren’s Lando Norris who was in the lead for the battle part of the race and set for victory before rain shower in closing laps saw him spin off after choosing not to pit for wet tyres.
Hamilton retakes the lead of the championship and will be looking to better his chances of an eighth title at the Turkish Grand Prix next weekend.
