Kenya’s food and beverage Company, Britania Foods Limited has gone into administration, effective August 6, 2021.

Audit firm PKF Consulting Ltd said Peter Kahi has been appointed as the Administrator of the company.

“By virtue of the Administration, the powers of the directors of the company in terms of dealing with the company’s assets have ceased. None of the directors, shareholders, employees and no other person is authorised to transact any business on behalf of the Company without express written consent from the administrator,” PKF said in a statement issued Tuesday seen by Khusoko.

Persons or entities owed by Britania Foods Limited have up to September 3, 2021, to send particulars of their claims to the administrator.

Founded in 1987, the company is known for its specialities: Digestive, Nice, Marie, Family, Digestive Sugar-Free, Digestive Oats, Ginger Nuts, Shortcake, Milk Biscuits, and Malt Biscuits.

Nation.Africa reported that Britania is facing an insolvency petition under the weight of a KSh17.3 million debt following the collapse of Nakumatt and Tuskys retailers.

According to court documents, Uzuri Foods Ltd, which supplied Britania Foods Ltd with flour between March and August 2019, wants the High Court to appoint Kolluri Venkata Subbaraya as the biscuit maker’s liquidator and give him the authority to sell assets as a debt recovery strategy.
