The Cestobal Kenya Federation is now officially active in the country, following a period of training coaches and technical officials and promoting the game since December 2020.

“Cestoball is a new sport,” said Lawrence Adera, President of the Cestobal Kenya Federation, during the launch at Nyayo National Stadium on July 10, 2021.

He added that the sport has significant potential in Kenya and will create numerous opportunities, particularly in talent development.

Cestoball, an Argentine sport created by Professor Enrique Romero Brest, is similar to netball but uses a ball akin to a handball.

The sport can be played both indoors and outdoors. Matches are played between two teams of six players in two 20-minute periods.

The objective is to score as many goals as possible by shooting the ball through the hoop.

Adera emphasized that Cestoball promotes values such as solidarity, friendship, teamwork, and respect for others.

As part of the competency-based curriculum in schools, it will be taught to children from the age of 10 to senior levels.

The Argentine Cestoball Confederation has welcomed the Cestobal Kenya Federation to the sport and is committed to assisting in its local development.

Natalia Acevedo, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Argentina to Kenya, stated that practising Cestoball will deepen relations between Argentina and Kenya.
