Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has joined Italian side AC Milan on a permanent transfer.

The French striker – who scored 39 goals in 119 appearances for the Blues, winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup – has signed a two year deal with the Italian giants worth £1million.

Giroud – who will be handed the No 9 jersey in Italy – will also receive an extra £1m in bonuses subject to a number of appearances and the club’s qualification for the Champions League.

The announcement came after Giroud completed his medical at Milan’s La Madonnina clinic on Friday morning.

Following his medical at approximately 7am, the striker took to Twitter to thank Chelsea for the ‘special moments’ he experienced at the club and express his excitement over his ‘new journey’.

Giroud joined Chelsea in January 2018 from Arsenal for £18m. The move came six years after he moved to the Premier League from Montpellier for £10.8m.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Giroud has contributed 39 goals and helped the club win three major trophies – with his most recent being the Champions League in May.
