  • Best chance for the visitors came through Stephen O’Donnell but Jordan Pickford made a reaction stop

  • Raheem Sterling felt he had a penalty when Andy Robertson stepped on his toes but it was waved away

England were held to a 0-0 draw by Scotland as Gareth Southgate’s side failed to break the deadlock at Wembley Stadium.

The Scots looked the happier side after 90 minutes having secured their first point of Euro 2020 after holding England to an unlikely goalless draw.

The ‘Three Lions’ had the game’s first big chance when John Stones met Mason Mount’s corner, only to see his header strike the post.

Scotland were causing issues for the England defence, particularly through forward Che Adams who was picking up spaces between the defence and the midfield.

The ‘Tartan Army’s’ strong left flank proved their best route to goal in the first half.

An overlapping run from Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney caused problems for England when his lofted delivery was met beautifully by Stephen O’Donnell on the volley, drawing a fine stop from Jordan Pickford.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock, leaving Scotland with the prospect of a winner-takes-all clash against Croatia at Hampden Park in their final group game. England will be frustrated as the result leaves them needing a win over the Czech Republic to top the group.
