Robert Lewandowski breaks Gerd Muller’s record as Bayern Munich beat Augsburg.

The Polish striker broke Gerd Mueller’s 49-year-old Bundesliga goal-scoring record for a season when he scored in the last minute of their last match of the season.

The strike took Lewandowski’s tally to 41 goals, one more than the former Bayern great.

The Poland striker is already second on the all-time scorers’ list in the Bundesliga, with 277 goals, behind only Mueller’s 365. Mueller set the previous record in the 1971-72 season with 40 goals.

It was an emotional match for the champions that bid farewell to manager Hansi Flick and players Jerome Boateng, David Alaba and Javi Martinez who are set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.
