- Leicester City beat Chelsea to lift this season’s FA Cup
- Youri Tieleman’s impressive goal in the second half gave the Foxes the win over the Blues
- Chelsea had a late Ben Chilwell’s goal overruled by VAR late in the match
Youri Tieleman’s superb shot in the second half sunk Chelsea as Leicester City won the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s 137-year history.
Brendan Rodger’s side put a spirited performance to beat Chelsea and lift this season’s FA Cup.
The Foxes attacked and defended with tact with Kasper Schmeichel pulling a couple of saves to ensure that the trophy was heading back to the King Power Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel started a strong side with Timo Werner leading the attack line, Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount providing support on the sides.
Rodgers’ side was forced to make an early substitution in the first half when Jonny Evans picked an injury and was replaced by Marc Albrighton.
The Foxes got ahead in the second half when Tielemans ran the ball through midfield and unleashed a superb strike into the top left corner beyond the reach of Kepa Arrizabalaga who started ahead of Benjamin Mendy in goal.
Chelsea thought they had equalized late in the match when Ben Chilwell looked to have equalized against his former side. A VAR check however disallowed the goal for offside.

“Winning the FA Cup is a dream come true for everyone associated with the Club,” Leicester City said in a statement.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, is a happy man, this is his first trophy in English football.
“It’s an amazing feeling, I wasn’t aware before I came to Leicester that they’d never won the FA Cup, they’d lost in four finals previous so to be able to give that to the owners and the fans, so special,” the Northern Irishman said.
“Youri Tieleman’s goal was like an old school FA cup winning goal but also Kasper Schmeichel’s save, those are the special moments you need in games,” he added.
