Steve Bruce’s side made a sloppy start to the game and after Sadio Mane crossed from the left, as Ciaran Clark was only able to head it into the path of Mohammed Salah.

Salah then twisted his way around Matt Ritchie and hammered home to beat Martin Dubravka.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be left ruing a series of missed chances in the first half that would have sealed the game.
