Borussia Dortmund suffered a shocking 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt that leave their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.
Portuguese striker Andre Silva netted a late winner to give the visitors a vital win over Dortmund who are seven points adrift of Frankfurt and the Champions League qualification places with just seven matches to play.
The visitors took the lead through a terrible own-goal in the 11th minute as Nico Schulz sent a looping header into his own net following a cross from Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.
Kevin Trapp denied Haaland with a smart save ten minutes later before Matt Hummels hooked the ball in at a corner to level the scores on the stroke of half time.
The visitors grabbed the three points late in the match after Silva completed a counter-attack heading in from close range from another Kostic cross.
Missing out on next season’s Champions League would see the side lose out on some of their coveted key players such as Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho who have been linked with moves away from Bundesliga.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen eased to a 2-1 win over bottom club Schalke in their first game under new coach Hannes Wolf.
Two counter-attacking goals from Ruben Vargas and Andre Hahn gave Augsburg a 2-1 win over Hoffenheim.
In the relegation battle, Mainz’ recent revival was halted by a 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Arminia Bielefeld.
