UEFA are planning for fans of both clubs to attend the Champions League final in Istanbul by selling smart tickets to supporters on their mobile phones.

While the capacity for the May 29 final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium is yet to be determined, the eight quarter-finalists have been told that at least 9,000 fans should be able to attend, with the ticket allocation split between the clubs.

Final decisions regarding capacity and international visitors will be taken by the Turkish government, but UEFA are increasingly optimistic.

UEFA have devised a system of smart access involving selling non-transferable tickets to fans via mobiles, which it is hoped will limit the risk of Covid-19 spreading at the ground, and eliminate touting.

The stadium was due to host last year’s final until the outbreak of coronavirus triggered a rethink and the fixture was shifted to Lisbon.

Teams left in Champions League

Manchester City is set to take on Borussia Dortmund while Real Madrid will play host to Liverpool.

Holders Bayern Munich will be taking on last year’s finalists PSG while PSG will take on Chelsea.

The first-legs will be played on 6th and 7th April.
