- Alexander Povetkin set to take on Dillian Whyte in their rematch on Saturday night
- Povetkin dropped Whyte back in August last year with a one-punch knockout in the fifth round
Dillian Whyte will be looking to find redemption when he takes on Alexander Povetkin in their rematch on Saturday.
The British boxer lost to Povetkin back in August last year thanks to a stunning one-punch knockout in the fifth round.
The loss forced the ‘Body Snatcher’ to relinquish his position as mandatory challenger to Tyson Fury’s WBC belt in August of last year. If he wins this rematch, he will return to his former spot at the front of the slow-moving queue of heavyweight contenders, but if he falls on the Iberian Peninsula as he did in Eddie Hearn’s garden last August, his long-awaited world-title shot might never come.
Seven months on and Whyte now finally has the opportunity for revenge in a bout branded the ‘Rumble on the Rock’.
The clash between the two heavyweights is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Europa Point Sports Complex in Gibraltar.
