Manchester City beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford to book a place in the Carabao Cup final.
In a fairly one-sided clash, City dominated the match, creating chances at will in each half with United struggling to match.
John Stones opened the scoring with his first goal in over three years at the start of the second half to give Man City the lead.
This was after a goalless first half that was capitulated with rued chances and three goals ruled for offside. City’s playmaker Kevin De Bruyne had an effort rattle the post.
Fernandinho made the game safe for City when he struck an excellent volley from 23 yards out seven minutes from time.
The result means that this will be Manchester City’s fourth consecutive appearance in the final, too, matching the record set by Liverpool between 1981 and 1984. Most ominously for Tottenham, Guardiola has only ever lost two ties in the competition and both were against Manchester United.
Guardiola will be hoping to extend his fantastic run in the competition when he leads his side against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham in the final.
