Manchester City were the big winners of the Premier League weekend with a 5-0 drubbing of Burnley at the Etihad Stadium.
Riyad Mahred grabbed his first Manchester City hat-trick as they crushed Burnley 5-0.
The Algerian gave Manchester City the lead by sweeping home after a swift break saw him played through by Kevin De Bruyne before doubling the lead minutes later.
Benjamin Mendy scored a third with an excellent cushioned volley from a sublime Kevin De Bruyne cross before Ferran Torres netted a fourth. Mahrez bagged his hat-trick with a header from Phil Foden’s cross.
At the Amex Stadium, Jurgen Klopp was left livid with his post-match interview telling it as his side conceded a late penalty goal from Brighton’s Pascal Gross. Liverpool had a goal by Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah chalked off in either half by VAR before a review late in the game awarded Brighton a penalty.
At Goodison Park, Carlo Ancelotti’s side were left licking their sores as Rapinha’s strike in the 76th minute gave Leeds vital three points.
Substitute Edinson Cavani struck twice as Manchester United rallied from two goals down to beat Southampton 3-2. The Saints went two goals ahead in the first half with goals from Jan Bednarek and a sublime free-kick from Ward-Prowse.
The Red Devils showed courage in the second half as Bruno Fernandes met a cross from Cavani to pull one goal back. The Uruguayan would then pull them back with a fine header before snatching a late winner deep into stoppage time.
Arsenal suffered their fifth loss of the Premier League campaign, losing 2-1 to Wolves at the Emirates Stadium. There was a tense moment in the match when David Luiz and Raul Jimenez had a head-clash that required the Wolves forward to be stretchered off with as the medics put him on oxygen support. The visitors went ahead Pedro Neto before Arsenal’s defender Gabriel pulled the Gunners back.
Daniel Prodence would get Wolves their second goal as the first half drew to a close and seal the three points for Espirito Santo’s side.
