Real Madrid bounced back from two defeats to beat arch-rivals Barcelona 3-1 at the Nou Camp.

Federico Valverde opened the scoring in the third minute, finishing off a sweeping counter-attack move that gave the visitors the lead.

The Uruguayan made a run into space and picked a pass from Karim Benzema to give them the lead.

Barcelona responded within minutes, Lionel Messi finding Jordi Alba in space who squared the ball to Ansu Fati for the equalizer.

The hosts dominated the better part of the match with the visitors threatening every time they attacked.

Messi played deep in midfield as he tried to pull his side back into the match with Zinedine Zidane’s happy to sit back and attack on the counter.

In the second half, Thibaut Courtois was called into action to keep out Messi who turned Ramos inside-out before unleasing a right-footed shot which the Belgian parried.

In the 60th minute, a VAR review adjudged that Lenglet had pulled Ramos’ shirt. The skipper would convert the spot-kick and give Madrid the lead.

Substitute Luka Modric sealed the win deep into stoppage time when he calmly collected a rebound ball from Neto and finding the net to seal the win.

The result sent Madrid to the summit of the table while Barcelona are in tenth.
