Pep Guardiola’s side came from a goal down to beat FC Porto 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring on the night with a wonderful run from deep in midfield, passing through Manchester City players and slotting the ball past Ederson.
The hosts would immediately rally back into the match when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Raheem Sterling by veteran defender Pepe.
A review by VAR confirmed the decision before Aguero stepped up and slotted the ball to bring the team back into the match.
The result was a positive one for Pep Guardiola who is still chasing European glory with the Manchester side.
Gundogan pulled the side to the lead when he won and converted a lovely free-kick in the 65th minute.
Substitute Ferran Torres would seal the three points for the side when he cut inside on to a pass from Phil Foden and moved inside a Porto defender to score high across goal with his right foot with a little over a quarter of an hour to go.
