Cuba, Kenya Hold Talks on Safe Return of Abducted Doctors

Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel says he had spoken with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta about two Cuban doctors, Assel Herrera and Landy Rodríguez kidnapped in Kenya 2019.

President Diaz-Canel said jointly, they will work towards the safe return of the kidnapped doctors.

“I had a fruitful telephone conversation with the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, where we exchanged information on bilateral and multilateral agenda issues. We confirm that we will continue working together to achieve the safe return of Landy and Assel to the Homeland,” Diaz-Canel wrote on Twitter.  

A similar conversation had been held on June 12, 2020.

Wednesday, the director-general of Press, Communication, and Image at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Juan Antonio Fernandez, denied earlier reports on announcing the release of the doctors.
