Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport said on Thursday it is the first hotel in Kenya to receive Safehotels COVID Clean (TM) certification.
The country’s first 5-star airport hotel said the certification comes at a crucial moment in the hospitality industry when current and future travellers are demanding watertight reassurance that their travel choice hotels and destinations are clean and safe.
“Without any effective treatments and vaccines still in development, the only option available is for institutions to instigate preventative measures. We are excited that our hotel has passed all parameters and protocols of hygiene and safety set by SafeHotel. There is no other crucial and coveted certification right now in the world to be more proud of than The SafeHotels CovidClean (TM) Hotel,” said hotel General Manager Mr. Barnabas Wamoto.
The CovidClean (TM) Hotel Certification is a comprehensive quality assurance certificate that reassures guests and bookers that the hotel is ready for business.
It comprises of a set of hygiene procedures and pandemic protocols designed to enable hotels to assure guests that their property meets the appropriate standards.
Additionally, the certification covers critical sanitation areas that a hotel needs to keep an eye on, including; cleaning, hygiene, social distancing, on-site resources, training and awareness.
Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport was audited on-site by an independent expert from SafeHotel who looked at more than 160 safety & hygiene checkpoints and gave a thumb of approval on all. Besides the CovidClean Certification, the hotel also has another certification on Global Hotel Security Standard by the same organization.
It is a 144 room hotel is situated within three minutes’ distance from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) terminals and targets business travelers on the go as well as transiting domestic and international passengers.
It is one of the two hotels at the airport, with the other being Marriott run by Four Points by Sheraton, which consists of 172 rooms.
