Mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury edges closer with Dillian Whyte’s devastating loss

Dillian Whyte’s loss to Alexander Povetkin brightens chance for mega-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Whyte has been pushing for a fight against Tyson Fury as he carried the WBC mandatory challenger’s tag for over 1000 days.

So perturbed was Whyte that he sought for legal redress to have him granted a shot at the WBC title.

Whyte’s push for the WBC title was threatening the titanic clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury which have fans craving, but despite dominating the opening rounds Whyte was left out cold and out of the running.

Povetkin now waits in the mandatory position Whyte held for more than 1000 frustrating days but won’t be a roadblock for Fury and Joshua, who could now schedule a bout for 2021 in the aftermath of the Gypsy King’s trilogy clash with Deontay Wilder.

The unification ‘Battle of Britain’ fight between WBC champion Fury and WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO title holder Joshua is one boxing is desperate not to lose after the pair marked themselves as the standouts of their generation.

While Fury faces a rematch with Wilder later this year, Joshua has his own task – a clash with Kubrat Pulev at at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Should the two British boxers sail throught their respective fights, their fight could happen sooner.
