Sevilla beat Inter Milan to lift the Europa League.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 …. 6 times now have Sevilla won the Europa League title.

De Jong was the hero of the night as his two-headed goals brought the Spanish side back in the match after conceding early on.

Romelu Lukaku put the Italian side ahead, converting from the spot after being brought down by Diego Carlos.

De Jong pulled the Spanish side back, meeting a sharp Jesus Navas’ cross from the right hand side.

Less than 25 minutes later, the Dutchman was again on target, converting a cross from Ever Banega.

Three minutes later, Diego Godin brought the match to parity, scoring a header from Marcelo Brozovic’s cross.

De Jong scored twice as Sevilla came from a goal down to win the Europa League title for the sixth time

Lukaku would then unintentionally deflect Diego Carlos’ overhead-kick into his own net 16 minutes from full-time, to give Sevilla the decisive goal.

A later surge from Inter bore no fruits as Alexis Sanchez’s goal-bound shot was cleared on the line by Jules Kounde.

At full time, the Sevilla players danced and hoisted their coach Julen Lopetegui, a pariah for many in Spain after he was ousted two days before their 2018 World Cup campaign because he had signed for Real Madrid.

Inter’s band of former Premier League stars had been denied.
