Dillian Whyte says that Tyson Fury would snub their fight even if it upset the fans.

Whyte is a mandatory challenger to the WBC title that Fury took from Wilder back in February.

While Fury is mandated to take on the ‘Body Snatcher’, he has repeatedly stated his unwillingness to fight him.

Whyte is due to fight Alexander Povetkin on Saturday in a bid to progress to a WBC world heavyweight title fight against Fury in 2021.

Dillian Whyte will fight Alexander Povetkin to progress onto a fight with Tyson Fury in 2021

Speaking to Sky Sports, Whyte said:

‘Do you think Tyson Fury cares? Tyson Fury doesn’t care. He used to say he was the lineal heavyweight champion, he let the public think he is, but he does what he wants to. Tyson Fury doesn’t care.

‘He’s a man that says one thing today and then says something else tomorrow. He doesn’t give two hoots what the public thinks.

‘He said he was a fighting man. Before he won the belt, he said he was going to fight me. He just talks rubbish. He said he was going to do this to me, do that to me.

‘After he wins the fight [against Deontay Wilkder], he talks about fighting Derek Chisora. He’s a joker. The WBC has obviously come forward and said you have to fight me now, so let’s see what he’s going to do.’

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn stated that should Whyte win on Saturday against Povetkin, he is to face the winner of Fury and Wilder’s trilogy bout. Should this fail to happen, Whyte will be elevated from interim champion to full champion, and thus take on his client (Joshua) for the undisputed title.
