Robert Matano has faulted the constant managerial changes at AFC Leopards.
The Tusker FC Head Coach has questioned the frequent managerial changes at Ingwe that he claims have denied the club league success.
AFC Leopards last lifted the Kenyan Premier League in 1998 and have not come close to lifting the coveted trophy.
The former national team coach stated that infighting and lack of consistency in management have denied the club league success.
Leopards, Kenya’s second most successful club, enjoy a stable and huge fan base across the country.
However, the club has endured a torrid time with little success both domestically and internationally.
Matano, who previously coached Leopards, said:
“When I was coaching Leopards, we were going to clinch the league trophy in 2018 and this was the plan, I had strategized for it. However the problem (at the club) is infighting and personal interests from the officials.
“In the league I had only played two to three matches; won and lost yet people started shouting Matano must go! This is not how it should be.”
“A coach should stay with a team for one to three years for one to start asking for a trophy. Consistency is the key thing here and Leopards lack that.”
