The Education Ministry is planning to have students resuming classes in September and the classes will have 15-20 classes only.
The Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has said that each classroom will have 15 to 20 learners when the schools reopen in September.
Prof Magoha stated that this will ensure that the learners maintain the required one metre social distance between so as to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Earlier this month, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked education stakeholders to begin preparations that should see the schools opened and learning resumption in September.
The Education CS last week told the Senate Committee on Education that the ministry was considering to roll out a shift system that would see only a fraction of learners allowed back to school.
He further made the pronouncement that class 8 and form four students will most likely sit for their national examinations in April 2021.
Among the measure to be adopted at resumption include the ministry’s plan of providing at least two masks for each learner.
Schools were closed in March as the government sought to address and contain the prevalence of the coronavirus pandemic.
Kenya recorded 155 positive coronavirus cases on Tuesday bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 4,952. Three more people succumbed to the virus bringing total virus deaths in the country to 128.
