Bayern Munich earned a hard-earned win against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday to book a slot in this year’s German Cup final.
Goals from Ivan Perisic and Robert Lewandowski gave the hosts a win over a resilient Bayer Leverkusen side.
Ivan Perisic opened the scoring when Thomas Muller clipped the ball to the unmarked winger who placed a diving header past Frankfurt’s keeper Kevin Trapp.
Bayern headed into the break with the lead, but after the break, the visitors began all bright, stepping up the field and mounted enough pressure on the hosts.
Their efforts were rewarded when substitute Danny da Costa pounced on fellow replacement Daichi Kamada’s cut-back to curl past Neuer at the far post.
Hansi Flick’s side responded with zeal and determination just five minutes later following an intervention by VAR.
Leon Goretzka found a clever pass to Davies, who unselfishly squared the ball but played it behind Kimmich. Fortunately, the German had the presence of mind to toe-poke the ball to Lewandowski, who slid in to restore Bayern’s lead.
