Premier League set to restart on June 17

Premier League clubs agree to restart the season on June 17.

The decision to have the season resumed was arrived at today’s crunch stakeholders’ meeting.

Premier League Management has been preparing Project Restart and the decision today was a major milestone to having the games back.


Football was suspended back in March 13 when Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for Covid-19. The two have since recovered.

The following weeks have seen speculations surrounding the return of football have been a conundrum with some sections calling for a cancellation of the season with others asking for the games to resume.

The resumption of the top-flight games in Germany casted more hope of a return of games in England and necessitated the move today.

June 20 has been lined up as the first full round of fixtures following the Premier League’s resumption although Manchester City vs Arsenal and Aston Villa vs Sheffield United are set to go ahead on Wednesday June 17.
