Quick Mart, a Kenyan homegrown supermarket opened its first store in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), along Tom Mboya Street in spite of reduced retail sales due to the coronavirus effect.

The retailer expects to lure new customers with its fresh food concept to grow its revenues at a space previously occupied by Botswana-based Choppies who facing financial difficulties.

This marks Quickmart’s 29th store locally. 

“This store allows us to be part of the action in the heart of Nairobi being our first store in the CBD,” said Betty Wamaitha, QuickMart head of marketing.

“In our view, the retailer will leverage from the relatively high footfall within the CBD, and we expect the government to gradually ease the restrictions of movement especially within Nairobi Metropolitan Area, resulting in a slight surge in activity in the CBD and other retail nodes thus providing a valuable market for the city’s retailers,” commentary from Cytonn Analyst.
