TP Mazembe has been declared Vodacom Ligue 1 champions by the Congolese Association Football Federation (FECOFA).
This becomes the clubs’ 18th win after FECOFA canceled the 2019/20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Before the pandemic, they had played 20 games earning themselves 53 points.
They will represent DRC in next season’s CAF Champions League.
According to FECOFA, the last two teams in the standings, OC Bukavu Dawa from Bukavu and AS Nyuki from Butembo, have been relegated to Division 2. They will be replaced by the two champions from two Ligue 2 sites, the JSK from Kinshasa for the West site and Etoile Yellow from Katanga for the South Center.
The decision by FECOFA marks the fourth African league to be canceled after the Kenyan Premier League, Angolan Girabola and the Guinean top-flight.
