The Ministry of Health reported a total of 15 people who have recovered from Covid-19 on Thursday, the highest single-day surge in recovery from the coronavirus.
The 36.4 percent rate brings the national tally of those who have fully recovered from the disease to 144.
“As we enter a new month, I am delighted to announce that we have recorded 15 new discharges, this is the largest number of discharges in a single day that we have registered,” Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman said during the daily briefing.
Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman, however, said 12 positive cases were confirmed out of the 777 samples taken from at least 14 counties over the last 24 hours pushing the cumulative tally of those who have tested positive to 396.
Two patients succumbed bringing the number of fatalities in the country to 17.
“Seven of the latest cases were recorded in Mombasa while the other five were detected in Nairobi estates of Eastleigh, Kileleshwa, and Fedha” he said.
One case was from Wajir County. This marks the first case being recorded in Wajir.
The ministry said a total of 20,268 samples had been tested in Kenya by April 30.
“We are not out of the woods yet and that’s why we are closely monitoring the trajectory our situation is taking by strictly adhering to the guidelines of keeping infections as minimal as possible,” he said.
