Kenya’s Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of the infected to 374.
A total of 124 patients have recovered following 10 discharges, said the ministry in a statement.
CAS Ministry of Health Rashid Aman said 589 samples were tested out of which 7 of the new cases are from Nairobi County, while 4 are from Mombasa County.
Out of the seven cases four reside in Kawangware, one each from Eastleigh, Manji Estate and Kaloleni, while all the four Mombasa cases are from Kibokoni (Old town).
Nairobi and Mombasa account for 90 percent of all the Covid-19 cases.
According to Aman, people aged, between 30 to 59 years account for 224 positive cases reported.
Distribution of COVID-19 cases by County are as follows: Homa Bay 1, Kajiado 3, Kakamega 1, Kiambu 5, Kilifi 9, Kitui 2, Kwale 1, Mandera 8, Mombasa 97, Nairobi 241, Nakuru 2, Siaya 2, Uasin Gishu 1.
180,89 samples have been tested since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in the country.
Wednesday, the government will launch the National Hygiene Program aimed at creating jobs while making the environment healthier. The first phase of the program for the next 30 days will employ 26,148 workers, and the number will eventually grow to over 100,000 youth.
“The inaugural cluster of employment will involve residents in 23 informal settlements, spread across seven counties,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said Saturday.
On the other hand, the National Response Emergency Response Committee through the directive of the President is mapping out the economic sectors and activities on the basis of infection risk.
“This mapping exercise when combined with increased testing and more exact contact tracing will inform how we reopen the economy progressively. We will reopen this economy but it must be in a way that does not endanger many thousands of lives,” Kenyatta added.
