La Liga Clubs have been told they could resume training in anticipation of having the season resumed.

At a meeting on Sunday between the league, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and Spain’s National Sports Council (CSD), a decision was arrived at that the teams could resume training.

However, this is on condition that the teams maintain and observe all the laid out guidelines on health and safety.

Spain has been one of the countries that have been severely hit by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. Over 20,000 people have died from the virus in the country.

In a statement, the CSD informed that the parties involved in the Sunday meeting all agreed to have the games back.

The statement further read that the decision will be ‘subject to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and to the decisions taken by the Ministry of Health’.

The resumption will be on condition that all the sanitary circumstances and strict health protocols are observed.

The statement also promised to dedicate part of the resources generated by football’s audiovisual rights to aid amateur, Olympic and Paralympic sports, while it also announced a ‘contingency fund’ of £8.72m to help the ‘most vulnerable’ athletes amid the shutdown due to coronavirus.

All LaLiga clubs will have to comply with strict health protocols set by the Spanish Government

Barcelona sits at the summit of the LaLiga table, holding a two-point lead over arch-rivals Real Madrid with 11 matches to play.
