Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder trilogy fight will be in Las Vegas on October 3rd.
Wilder triggered his rematch clause after losing to the Gypsy King in February in a one-sided clash between the two.
The two heavyweight boxers first met in Los Angeles in December 2018 where the judges ruled the fight as a draw – a decision that fans and pundits deeply disagreed with.
During the second fight in February, Fury outboxed and floored the American twice before the fight was stopped in the seventh round when Wilder’s trainer threw in the towel.
The fight had been scheduled for July 18 but with the coronavirus pandemic crippling most sporting events, the fight was moved to October 3 in Las Vegas.
Promoter Bob Arum explained the delay saying that ‘we could not convince the fighters or ourselves that the fight could happen on the date’.
Wilder blamed his costume for the loss in February. Speaking after the loss, the former champion said:
He didn’t hurt me at all…the simple fact is that my uniform was too heavy for me.
The setting of this fight means that a bout to unify the heavyweight titles and crown an undisputed champion between either Fury or Wilder and Joshua will have to wait till next year.
