Kenyan Athlete was seized by security officers while aboard a matatu heading to Eldoret.
Samson Rutto, an Eldoret-based athlete is said to have travelled from France, making stops in India and Ethiopia.
He further revealed that he had travelled to participate in a race in France, but as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the event was cancelled.
Rutto then went to India where he was set to participate in two races – 21 kilometres and 10 kilometres.
Speaking to the press, Nakuru Health Chief Officer Samuel King’ori said that they had put the athlete in isolation, on fears that he may have been in contact with someone infected with the virus.
‘We intend to isolate the athlete in our isolation facility as we monitor him for the next 14 days”
The Athlete said that he had been screened four times while in France, India, Ethiopia and in Kenya (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, JKIA).
Covid-19 cases in Kenya
In a press briefing on Wednesday evening, President Uhuru Kenyatta informed that the number of confirmed cases stood at 28.
However, he also reported that one patient had fully recovered of the coronavirus.
