Kenya on Friday confirmed its first case of the corana virus pandemic. Kenya becomes the 15th African state to report the case.

Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe said the patient, 27 year old lady, had travelled from Ohio, Chicago, London enroute to Kenya on March 5.

The minister described it “an import case and not homegrown and they can tackle it’.

“The case is a Kenyan citizen who traveled back to Nairobi returning from the United States of America via London, United Kingdom on the 5th March 2020.

She was confirmed positive by the National Influenza Center Laboratory at the National Public Health Laboratories of the Ministry of Health,” Kagwe told the media.

“The patient is clinically stable and is being managed at the Infectious Diseases Unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital.”

Mutahi appreciated the efforts the patient took to take herself to hospital and also provide information to all who had been in contact with her.

The ministry said it has taken the responsibility to inform all persons affected.

The ministry says it has traced all the contacts of the patient since her arrival in Kenya.
