Two new directors have been appointed to the board of Unga Group Plc, a Kenyan-based holding company with its investments in the business of flour milling and manufacturing of human nutrition products.

Ms Wangari Muriuki Murugu and Ms Ciru M Miring’u have been appointed to serve as Independent Non-Executive Directors with effect from 27 February 2020 to help steer the company as it operates in an increasingly challenging environment, and provide financial and marketing expertise.

Ms Wangari Muriuki is the Director of Marketing at M-Kopa limited and an entrepreneur currently Executive Director of Mo-Lito limited, manufacturers of farm-fresh yogurt.

She previously worked in senior management positions in the areas of Marketing at Safaricom Plc, the Coca Cola company – South and East Africa Division and with PZ Cussons East Africa.

She serves as a Board Member at Well ToldStory.

She holds a Global Executive Masters in Business Administration from USIU Kenya and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Trent University, Canada.

On the other hand, Ms Ciru Miring’u is a business leader with extensive commercial and general management experience in FMCG, Consumer Healthcare and Pharma.

She has previously held senior positions with Nestle as Managing Director East Africa Cluster, the Horn of Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, General Manager, African Nutrition Ventures and Marketing Director East Africa.

She has served as a member of the Kenya Associations of Manufacturers, MNC CEO Caucus and as an independent Board member of Java House Ltd.

She holds a Masters in Business Administration from USIU and a Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry and Zoology from the University of Nairobi.
