Listed non-bank financial services provider Sanlam Kenya, announced on Friday that it has confirmed Caroline Laichena as the company’s General Insurance chief executive.

Laichena took over as interim head of the subsidiary since January following the exit of her predecessor George Kuria. She was then the head of operations.

A seasoned insurance executive, Laichena who started her career as a management trainee at the Lion of Kenya Insurance Company 19 years ago before joining ICEA,   Jubilee, Cannon Assurance and Heritage Insurance, said:

“Backed by a complement of some of the most experienced insurance executives in Kenya, we shall be building upon our recent success factors to further raise the value of general insurance derives to our growing clientele.”

Sanlam Kenya Group chief executive Patrick Tumbo said Ms Laichena’s credentials stood out during a competitive recruitment process conducted to replace George Kuria who quit to pursue other interests.
