South African firm City Lodge Group has opened its KSh2 billion, a 171-room four-star hotel at Two Rivers Mall in Nairobi. This mixed-use development features retail, entertainment, banking, office, and residential elements. The hotel features two 20-seater boardrooms and two 8-seater meeting rooms.

City Lodge chief executive Andrew Widegger said the company was looking forward to the continued creation of employment in the Kenyan market. 

“We have been very satisfied investors in the Nairobi hotel market, with our first investment coming in 2012 with the purchase of 50 percent of Fairview Hotel and Town Lodge Upper Hill, formerly Country Lodge. We subsequently acquired the remaining 50 percent in 2014,” Widegger said.

The hotel, which has opened in phases, has been trading for the past two years, is the Group’s third property in the country. The first 40 rooms opened on January 15, 2018.  

The City Lodge Hotel Group owns and operates the Fairview Hotel and Town Lodge, Upper Hill in Nairobi. A 147-room City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Town Lodge Windhoek in Namibia’s capital city and a 148-room City Lodge Hotel Maputo in Mozambique’s capital.
