Spanish on-demand delivery platform Glovo has launched operations in Kitengela and Nakuru towns as part of its expansion strategy to provide delivery services in various parts of the country.

Glovo General Manager for Kenya William Benthall said: “This move is part of Glovo’s strategic expansion in Kenya. Our long term aim is to have a presence in all towns in the country. We are committed to helping our partners to amplify their businesses and increase sales, and providing quality service delivery to all our customers at an affordable price.”

At the moment, Glovo already has the widest coverage in Nairobi among on-demand eCommerce companies and this move will see the company extend its delivery of food, supermarkets, drinks, gifts, as well as courier services to residents in Kitengela and Nakuru. The firm intends to capitalize on their existing partnerships with outlets such as Artcaffe, Chicken Inn, Naivas in Kitengela and Java House and Naivas in Nakuru.

In Africa, Glovo operates in Kenya, Morocco, Egypt and Ivory Coast with plans to expand to Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania.

Glovo was founded in 2015 in Barcelona and has since then expanded operations to 3 continents i.e. Europe, Africa, and South America. The service is present in over 20 countries and more than 100 cities. In Africa it is available in Kenya, Morocco, Egypt, and Ivory Coast.
