Developer launches Five Senses public gardens at heart of Nairobi lifestyle oasis Enaki

HassConsult Limited’s sensory KSh10 billion botanical garden development has been touted as Kenya’s and Africa’s first experience-driven township designed by award-winning Spanish architects iGreen filled with cascading waterfalls and community facilities.

“Enaki is an investor-buyers’ project located along Redhill Road near UN Habitat, diplomatic mission, non-governmental organisations and affluent homes. This is a premium location that neighbours Nyari, Runda, Gigiri, Ridgeways, Spring Valley, Kitisuru and Muthaiga residential areas where an acre goes for about KSh80 million to KSh100 million,” said project director Ms. Sakinah Hassanali.

Yet, while the world now has 1,775 botanical gardens across 148 countries, few of them are in Africa, with South Africa hosting the largest number, at 17. In Kenya, there is only one widely recognized botanical garden based on its plant culture and diversity.
“As developers, we began with a donated park, and realized we had an opportunity to create something entirely new in Kenya and in real estate by leading the way with a holistic botanical experience that defined the nature of the whole township and its lifestyles,” said  Hassanali.

Enaki is a combination of two words. The EN comes from the word Enso, which is a sacred symbol in the Japanese school of Zen for a circle of togetherness. Other translations are the circle of life and connectedness of existence.
This idea drove the designs for our new township from the very first conversation. The AKI is then drawn from the Maasai word Koiyaki, which means ‘one of good heart’.

The first phase is projected to cover 225 units with 70 per cent of them being one-, two-, three-bedroomed units and studios while four-bedroomed houses, penthouses and three-bedroomed duplexes taking up 30 per cent.
