French fuel storage and distribution company Rubis SCA has announced an ‘extensive reorganization’ after it acquired KenolKobil Ltd stations in Uganda and Rwanda. “The integration of KenolKobil is under way. The new team is embarking on an extensive reorganization of the acquired operations in order to bring them into line with Group standards,” it said in its first half of 2019 financial results. The integration will focus on internal control, organization, and governance. Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has invested an undisclosed amount in organising training programmes for its employees looking to shift to new digital careers. Known as the Digital Academy, the initiative caters to employees working in technology careers that are becoming automated. Estonian taxi-hailing firm Bolt will make passenger journeys carbon-neutral by offsetting the emissions from trips taken on the platform as part of its wider environmental strategy called ‘Green Plan’. The carbon-neutral initiative is expected to involve a multi-million euro investment which will continue to grow with the company. Chief executives in Africa are less pessimistic about the future of the global economy citing political, social and economic threats to have increased uncertainty and decreased confidence in revenue prospects.
