Kenya and the United Kingdom have agreed to commence talks on a post-Brexit trade pact. Both sides were optimistic to reach an agreement by the end of the year. According to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena, the negotiations will be conducted within the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership Framework established by the two leaders in January 2020 and the East African Community (EAC) parameters in order to enhance regional integration. Rwanda plans to resume commercial flights from August, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced Saturday. According to the Ministry, Rwanda has already prepared necessary guidelines to resume domestic and international flights as per the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Health. The Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC) approved International Finance Corporation(IFC) and Shelter Afrique as shareholders. KMRC is a public-private partnership (PPP) firm formed by the government to make home loans affordable in the country. The two were admitted during the first virtual Annual General Meeting after each contributed KSh200 million. KMRC disclosed to have raised KSh2 billion as capital from shareholders. Other shareholders include the National Treasury, and 20 Primary Mortgage Lenders (PMLs), eight commercial banks, one Micro Finance Bank, and 11 Savings and Credit Cooperatives.
