Kenya’s diaspora remittances increased by 2.8 per cent in November 2023, reaching $355 million, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). The CBK said that the remittances, a key source of foreign exchange for the country, were higher than the $345.4 million recorded in November 2022. “The cumulative inflows for the 12 months to November 2023 totaled Ksh 638.8 billion ($4.18b) compared to Ksh 615.2 billion ($4.02b) in the same period in 2022, an increase of 3.8 per cent,” said CBK. Kenya received 451,441 international visitors in Q3 2023, a 42.3% increase from 317,196 visitors in Q2 2023, according to data from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Moi International Airport (MIA). The month of October witnessed 131,756 international arrivals, up from 113,981 arrivals in October 2022. On a year-on-year basis, the total arrivals in the first nine months of 2023 rose by 28.7% to 1,238,330, compared to 962,157 in the same period in 2022.
Longhorn Publishers reported a net loss of Ksh571.33 million for the year ended June 2023, the worst since it was listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange in May 2012.
