Kenya Airports Authority Managing Director & Chief Executive Jonny Andersen will leave office at the end of September.
KAA said Jonny who has been with them since November 2016 opted not to renew his contract which was due to expire on November 21st, 2019.
“Jonny brought good knowledge of the industry and an ability to forge consensus among stakeholders. He has served with distinction and I wish him well in his future endeavors,” said KAA Chairman Isaac Awuondo.
Mr. Awuondo continued: “During Jonny’s tenure we built a strong foundation for future growth, including strengthening our management team, improving our operations and enhancing customer service. The Board and I are committed to ensuring the Kenya Airports Authority fulfills its full potential to enable all our customers to experience stress-free travel.”

He supported KAA’s new strategy by creating a network of adequate Kenyan aviation infrastructure by designing and securing financing for second runway valuing at USD$250M and by initiating USD$350 remodeling of existing terminal at JKIA.
He steered the authority to increase its profit from FY 2015/2016 from USD $24M to USD $57M for FY 2017/2018.
He further enabled JKIA to receive recognition as the best improved airport in Africa in the 2017 ACI Airport Service Quality Awards.
He helped secure approval as LPD and direct flights to the USA by increasing the security of the main airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.
The recruitment process for a new CEO/Managing Director has already commenced.
