Ronald Koeman confirmed as Barcelona Boss. The Dutchman takes over from Quique Setien who was dismissed following the side’s 8-2 demolition by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The 57-year old joins the Nou Camp after he left his role as the manager of the Netherlands national team where he has been at the helm since 2018.
Koeman played for Barcelona and won four La Liga titles for the Nou Camp side.
He is fondly remembered for scoring the winning goal in the 1992 European Cup final.
Speaking to the Dutch Football Association website, the former Everton and Southampton manager said:
“Everyone knows that Barcelona is my dream club. It feels very special to me to be able to become a coach there. It was an honour to be the national coach of the Netherlands. Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have done everything I can to achieve success.
I look back with pride on what we have achieved together in that period. The Dutch national team has a bright future, I am convinced of that.”

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu said that Koeman understands the style and philosophy of the club has been part of Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team.
Koeman arrives at the side facing a major crisis both on and off-pitch that has culminated in Lionel Messi stating his wish to leave the side.
The club endured a terrible campaign that saw them finish the season without a trophy since 2007/08/.
