Sidian Bank has rolled out its Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Campaign in Meru County to improve access to clean water and promote hygiene awareness in schools and communities across the region.
The initiative directly addresses the pressing need for safe water. As part of the campaign, the bank donated 10,000‑litre water tanks to several constituencies in partnership with local leaders and community structures. The tanks are expected to ease daily water challenges, strengthen household hygiene practices, and build healthier, more resilient communities.
Speaking at the launch, Simon Mwangi, Head of Government and Institutional Banking at Sidian Bank, emphasized the campaign’s role in sustainable development:
“Access to clean water is not just a basic need, it is a foundation for health, dignity, and economic stability. Through this WASH campaign, Sidian Bank is investing in practical solutions that respond to real community needs and support long‑term resilience. By working closely with local leadership, we are ensuring that these interventions deliver lasting impact beyond today’s handover.”
Hon. Eng. Nebart Bernard Muriuki, MP for Mbeere South, welcomed the initiative, noting its relevance to local needs and its potential to improve health outcomes and livelihoods:
“For many families here in Mbeere South, access to clean water remains a daily struggle. This support will ease that burden and contribute to better health and livelihoods. We appreciate this partnership and look forward to continued collaboration that puts the needs of the community first.”
The WASH Campaign is part of Sidian Bank’s broader sustainability agenda, which prioritizes practical, community‑driven initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes, strengthen resilience, and improve quality of life in underserved areas.
